"We are so excited to bring back our in-person Weekend Getaways," said Carlene Leaper, Executive Director of the Arc Mid-South. Weekend Getaways are for people with disabilities ages 8 and up formatted to a "mini camp" (Friday - Sunday) to provide families with a break and participants with a wide variety of experiences at a camp away from home.
The fabulous all exclusive Arc Weekend Getaway was held this past weekend at Camp Conquest . Throughout the weekend, campers interacted with farm animals, did arts and crafts, participated in sports, including football, Wiffle ball, and ping pong, went fishing, did karaoke, explored the campgrounds, and enjoyed interacting with their peers. One of the favorite pastimes for one of our campers was the sensory room which was equipped with bean bags, hammocks, a T.V. and a light show. They are all waiting anxiously for the next Weekend Getaway. We would also like to thank our volunteers for helping us make this happen. Thank you so much for your help!
