Global foods, fashions and entertainment were celebrated at The Arc Mid-South’s 3rd Annual International Tea & Fashion Show, held at Kroc Center. “Local Memphis Live” host Amy Speropoulos emceed the show, which included performances by the Dancing Bells of India and singer/dancer Luciana Braymore, a native of Sao Paulo, Brazil. Betty Hays narrated as models displayed an array of fashions from her Germantown boutique, including clothing from Australia and Canada.

The Arc Mid-South hosted its first “Tea Around The World,”International Tea and Fashion Show Extravaganza on Saturday, May 9th at the Crowne Plaza Memphis East. With over 200 guests in attendance, this event was a huge success.

With a sampling of the tastiest global cuisines, a silent auction that piqued the interest of every guest, and a variety of musical entertainment that included contemporary dance, performing arts, and performances represented by Latino Memphis, attendees were pleasantly surprised at the multiple showcases this event provided.

The highlight of the event didn’t just stop there, however; “Glitz to Glamour”, a production hosted by Ms. Benea’s House of Fashion, provided a grandiose array of fashion that sparkled the room as the models showcased their guises.

Tea Around The World”was represented by 12 various countries as tables were uniquely and creatively decorated by The Arc Mid-South’s employees. Countries represented included Africa, Jamaica, Switzerland, Sri Lanka, Japan, and North America.

While the International Tea Event took place on a seemingly carefree afternoon, this event had a dual purpose: to raise funds to support the programs and services provided by The Arc Mid-South.

Special thanks are, of course, extended to our attendees, board members, committee members, staff and volunteers for making this an event to remember. Due to the event’s attendance and because of our many supporters of the Tea Around The World”, this will now be earmarked as one of The Arc Mid-South’s new annual fundraisers.
