We Need Volunteers.

Ways we could use your help.

CLASSROOM AIDE

Classroom Aide for Classes at the Arc Mid-South

Our classes are held Tuesday –Thursday from 9:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m. The teacher has the lessons planned for our adult students with disabilities, but it would be extremely helpful for the students to have more one-on-one help reviewing and emphasizing what the teacher taught.  This would need to be a weekly commitment of 2 hours at least 1 day per week (more would obviously be wonderful).  This is a great opportunity for retired educators and/or college students, but there are no special skills required except for patience and understanding.

ANNUAL GALA COMMITTEE

Annual Gala Chair

Help us with planning the our Annual Gala by joining the Gala Committee, which meets regularly to produce an outstanding fund-raising party.

ADMINISTRATIVE ASSISTANT

Administrative Assistant at the Arc Mid-South

We truly believe that as a nation we use more paper being "paperless" than we did before there was such a thing.  We could use a consistent volunteer (at least once a week) to help out with filing, scanning, and creating client binders as well as light receptionist duties.

SUMMER CAMP STAFF

Summer Camp

Summer camp usually is held in July at Pinecrest Retreat Center in Moscow, TN.  Campers enjoy water fun, arts and crafts, entertainment, making tie-dye items, volleyball, dancing, Zumba, swimming, eating great food (even when their parents say they won't), hiking, making s'mores, hanging out by the campfire, and learning more about independence.  This could be a come and go experience or you could stay for the night or week...depending on your interest level

WEEKEND RETREAT COORDINATOR

Weekend Retreat Coordinator

Once a month we host a weekend retreat for our clients with disabilities giving them the opportunity to experience time away with their peers and giving their caregivers some much needed time to rejuvenate and have a respite from the constant demands of care giving.  During these weekend retreats, particularly on Saturday, we need a coordinator to assist in the  leisure activities designed to keep the campers engaged.

WHEELCHAIR BASKETBALL TOURNAMENT

Wheelchair Basketball Tournement

Our Wheelchair Basketbal Tourament is held each March in conjunction with National Disabilities Awareness Month.  We could use some help contacting potential teams (typically corporations whose employees play - we have a list of teams) and potential  sponsors. Volunteers also are needed to help at the event’s concession stand and ticketing.
