Sam’s Club Annual Disability Awareness Day
The Arc Mid-South celebrated National Disability Employment Awareness month on Friday, October 31st. Students in the Career Development and Job Placement Program had an opportunity to visit a local Sam’s Club to learn first-hand the variety of responsibilities that it takes to maintain the store. This was an excellent opportunity for the students that have a desire to obtain gainful employment.
The students toured the store, learned the responsibilities of the shipping and receiving department, and were given an opportunity to shadow the photo department. The Sam’s Club employees were quite receptive to our students, and friendly isn’t ample enough to describe the warmth felt during our students’ 3 hour venture.
To top the afternoon off, each student received a commemorative photo, enjoyed pizza, cupcakes and freshly baked cookies, all compliments of the Sam’s Club team.
